King of Dirt 2007 - Chicsands Report

Sunshine and blue sky’s welcomed us at Chicksands for the first round of king of dirt.
A lot of work had been put in the previous weeks by gethin and dowie to get the new line up and maybe running for the pro comp, Tim and the other guys had also put some work in during the week to get the lander finished. With some final alterations on the day and a little tweaking the line was finally running.

The open comp kicked things off with a serious improvement on last years riding. So many good riders in this category made it a real hard one to judge! Josh slater for the first time I have ever seen went off at a comp showing how stylish and how many tricks he really has! Tailwhips looking smooth. Another rider that should so much style and flow was Prebon. Little jake was shredding the trails, dialled tables so flat! Big old school no handers With a push from fellow traverler ricky crompton jake went for 3’s on dirt for the first time. Getting it round after a couple of trys. Winner of the open phil had so many smooth runs, twisting the second and third in row as well as 360 tyre grabs and tailwhips making him a worthy winner after a lot of hard work over the past year.

The pro comp was going to be cracker, really good turn out. With no lance here it was going to make things interesting. Tom gething bless him, had done his knee cartlidge a few days before for rulling him out of the action for Flow leaving Rob Newman to battle on his own. Team 24seven was down with new lance replacement Chris Mahony along with Ricky Crompton and Sam “leopard head” Pilgrim. 24 Seven are looking a really strong team yet again this year. A few of the lads from Dmr came down, Jimmy Pratt amazing me yet again with the height he boosts out of the trails. ID where without Glen Goe due to hernia operation leaving Tom Dowie, Patrick Cambell and Rory Backshell riding for them. Static bikes with the legend that is culis and new signing Tom Pinto looking very stylish.

Team 24seven came out on tops, a tough comp between all three riders sam with his barrels roles, turn down backflips. Chris Mahony looked good but there oldest team member Ricky Crompton walked away with the prize. Ricky went off with some huge backflip no-handers, superman seat grabs, Having been hidden in lances shadow for some time now maybe this is rickys time.
